“Try watching the films on their terms and following the dialog instead of flipping out because it didn’t follow whatever story you started daydreaming when you weren’t paying attention.”

What an awful take. The first anime was full of filler nonsense and the only parts people point to as what they like about it were all the parts that came from the manga.

That’s only true of the anime original stuff from the first adaptation, which is arguably worse than the manga and Brotherhood. It isn't an alternate earth and there's no literal Hitler in the manga/BH.

Amazing how you keep calling me a nerd yet you’re running around this article pissing your pants every time someone says something negative about TLJ.

You keep saying “I just don’t get it” yet remain curiously silent on what there is to “get”. And yes it didn’t feature story directions I wanted, because what I wanted was a cohesive story direction. That’s not an unreasonable expectation for the middle part of a trilogy bud.

Probably because for the longest time they were focused on making movie tie ins.

Yeah. While I fully condemn JKR I never subscribed to the notion that boycotting this game made for an effective form of protest. And I thought condemning people for playing it was a ridiculous line in the sand to draw to decide whether people supported trans rights or not. But I still didn't pick it up personally

I mean this game was such a clickbait goldmine for Kotaku. You expect them not to extract every nugget they can from it?

Eh, I wouldn’t say it’s a bad film. Definitely not in the same way Rise of Skywalker is a bad film. The direction is largely competent (though it’s far from Johnson’s best work) and despite some pacing issues it’s an enjoyable enough watch. I definitely didn’t hate it coming out of the cinema.

The story is laughably simple to follow, which is why it’s so fucking obvious to anyone with a functioning brain (so that excludes you apparently) there’s utterly no overall direction to it. Abrams set up the story to go one way, Johnson decided he wanted to forcibly take it a different way, and then Abrams dragged it

Probably because Cenat still lies at the root of it. He ultimately caused the mob of people to be there (what they did after that is debatable but there's no arguing he brought them there) and if they weren't there the police wouldn't have been there. So his actions are what people are drawn to focus on. Doesn't

He has a production company and a lot of experience doing it. He, or at least someone in his team, knows how to organise.

Carano is still wild to be. Imagine throwing away having your own Star Wars show to become some right wing non entity who can only get roles in right wing produced trash that no one watchs. All because she couldn’t keep her stupid opinions to herself, or apologise and back down when called out on them.

True, I’m not sure if that particular charge is warranted either. But my point is I don’t think you can construe condemnation of Cenat as support for the police. Though disgustingly there's definitely a little of that going around here.

And unsurprisingly Destiny 2 launched in a similar vein to Overwatch 2. Not actually fundamentally changing the game and taking away a lot of stuff to be monetised (like shaders). Though it was much worse with Overwatch because at least you could still play Destiny 1, and Destiny 2 at least had more new content than

To be fair it was partly because Lucas did a poor job delivering that message with the prequel trilogy. The dogmatic and extremist nature of Jedi teachings is a big part of what led to their downfall but it’s easy to miss that when you’re giggling about Hayden Christenson talking about how much he hates sand.

I think you can’t have a franchise show where you go too far from the elements that define the franchise. Putting “Star Wars” on the label is going to make people expect certain things and when it doesn’t deliver on them people are going to be disappointed. Or they’re going to question “why is this a Star Wars show

The problem with Last Jedi wasn’t really that it was changing Star Wars, it’s that it was changing the trilogy it was supposed to be a part of. As a film in isolation it’s fine, as the middle part of a trilogy it sucks ass. It spends far too much time tearing down or ignoring what happened in the previous film and

adding more women, making Luke a hermit, or changing up how some Force powers work”

Nothing more? Yeah let’s just pretend he was sat at home innocently being black and had nothing to do with this mess. It’s absolutely 100% to do with his race and not the fact he did something monumentally stupid and dangerous. /s
