To me, it was no different then a 100 ‘pull yourself up by your bootstraps’ pop psychology books. I also wasn’t comfortable telling strangers my problems. That’s an immediate shitshow for those of us with anxiety disorders. LOL I attacked my problems with individual therapy after A.A. left me cold. A.A. is so based on

I cried through my entire first meeting too. I had actually wandered into a ‘graduate level meeting’ where they were doing the book stuff so I just listened and cried. Someone did come up to me after the meeting and took me to a beginner one. But yes, I totally understand how you can find comfort in just being with

Absolutely. Instead of peer counseling, I saw a psychiatrist once a week who specialized in treating addictions. He diagnosed me with anxiety disorder and now I’m on a mood-stabilizer and SSRI. After being on the medication for a couple of months the urge to drink just EVAPORATED. Like a switch was flipped, magic

A.A. didn’t provide the support I needed to stay sober, just to get sober. Peer support, meetings, trusting in a higher power, reading the book and sponsorship were not doing it for me after several months. I was pretty aghast to realize most of their philosophy is based on “you can get sober if you want it hard

When I initially quit drinking I went to A.A. and that worked because of the peer (support?) pressure. I’m very competitive and the lure of success by stocking consecutive sober days and then getting credit for them by other alcoholics was pretty powerful.

Because of this post I found out her sister goes by Taka Boom which is incredible. Good on you, Chaka, for getting help - it’s not easy to admit and treatment is hard, but we don’t want to be losing you too soon.

Yes! Joffrey with notes of unhinged Draco Malfoy.

I know he’s a great actor and I have seen many of his critically acclaimed performances, but to most Americans he’s just Loki and now T Swift’s new chew toy. Tom is well known UK actor, but Swift is an actual celebrity.

I Love Terrible Songs.

Yes, very superstitious. It’s a double scammy whammy to say something bad will happen to a family member. My Ah Po would say, “If I die, it was my time.” But if a family member was going to get sick or be cursed, that’s a different story. And, actually, Ah Po would probably hire an army of her own fortune tellers and

I am a homer, but think Hawaii should be #1.

Plenty of people think hummus = a can of chickpeas. There’s a fuckton of oil whipped in there - oil that is good for you! People stress about the carbs in the pita chips- while giving my Chipwich side-eye - when I just watched you vacuum up a 700 calorie tub of bean and oil slurry.

A Chipwich is 255 calories.

You can cut it with Yoo-hoo... is what a friend told me.

The fact that they blamed the ambulance and got such short sentences is horrifying to me. Before this, they already had a huge platform with these anti-vax nuts and now the two-for-one bolster: medical science killed their kid - not them - and that’s why they got a slap on the wrist.

Or BenJarvus Green-Ellis, whose nickname was Law Firm.

Are we talking about the man who covers everything in gold so he doesn’t have to touch pleb things like porcelain and escalators?

Or reverse-rapecism: “Bro, she was throwing herself at me! I was all like whoa whoa but she wouldn’t stop. If she was 13, she sure didn’t act like it, bro.”

I am leaning toward these women’s stories are true. And also, that the guys who keep clumsily flogging this to the media are pressuring the women to go public because they want to annihilate Trump.
Like a lot of sexual assault victims these women seem to go back and forth with between wanting their stories to be heard

I have a friend with RA and she tried Rituxan for the first time last week. She was so nervous about the side-effects but her RA has made life so difficult she’s willing to try it. She had to quit her job as a tailor, her husband works two jobs to support her and their two young kids. She still does all the household

Yeah, he was always “troubled” or “the bad boy,” not wantonly abusive. Puts the whole Winona tattoo into a gross context because 1) that was a radical statement at that age 2) it came true. He went from Winona to Wineo Forever.
