Taylor Swift :: Damon Young
Taylor Swift :: Damon Young
And as a result, it became an internet joke. If anyone had picked up on the name and tried to make a thing out of it — so what anyway? Just call this out for what it was: stupid.
Apparently, it is a regional thing, per my earlier post. This from the St. Louis alt weekly in June: https://www.riverfronttimes.com/newsblog/2017/06/19/day-care-worker-hog-tied-4-year-old-girl-with-duct-tape-yet-kept-his-job
OH, no. At most, there was a discussion between teacher and parents later in the year about the “conduct” portion of my report card. Meaning, it was my fault. That’s just how things went down back then.
In the main, they were far better than their peers in that place, at that time.
What’s the question?
Getting smacked by my dentist and duct-taped like a mummy to my chair by my first-grade teacher were nothing compared to what a little fag endured growing up in that god-forsaken hole. But you make your own life. My happiness and the quality of my life are on me. I appreciate your sentiment.
It was my first-grade teacher, Miss Henry. There were no repercussions. Physical punishment — though usually not so creative — was common in elementary school back then.
I did. And like I said, no one thought anything of it. Mind you, that was 55 years go. I remember my mom saying something along the lines of, “I guess you’ll think twice about getting out of your chair again.” It’s just so odd that it should happen half a century later on literally the same spot on planet Earth —…
They’re still doing this? Is it a regional thing, like toasted ravioli and gooey butter cake?
Highway to Hell. Exit right.
I have heard Mr. Benjamin speak at length on several news programs in the past week. His message is beautiful and his eloquence is uplifting. Let’s hope there’s a lot more in his political future on the national stage.
So, basically, the same very few folks who attended Trump’s inauguration.
Now THAT’s a smile to cherish. What a lovely girl. I worked in a burn unit for several years, and despite the overall horror of the place, I was always amazed by the ability of young people to recover from their burns, the ability of their bodies to respond quickly and forcefully to the trauma, to heal, and in time to…
Policing does in general make a community safer. There is a direct correlation. The best — and most tragic — example is Honduras, where the disappearance of any effective police force at all has resulted in the highest murder rate and most dangerous society overall in the world. Nextdoor, Guatemala comes in a close…
I used to like The Root. But I’m about to kick it to the curb. In its submission to identity politics, it has taken the bait of the enemy. Harriott, Young, and most of the rest have become self-parodies, mirror images of Archie Bunker.
Tina Fey doesn’t work for fucking Damon, who needs to develop a sense of irony and open himself to the power of facetiousness, per Fey’s routine. The subtext of Fey’s routine is exactly what Damon is complaining about for its absence in the explicit. Good lord, really? When taking in the totality of her work, Fey…
“Words don’t mean shit.” Said the writer.
Loved it.
“I don’t know how black people’s love for watermelon became a racial stereotype.” You rather answered your own question in asking it. If black people love watermelon, then that’s the source of the stereotype. Now, whether that’s a negative stereotype, or a recognition of good taste, I leave for you to decide. Who the…
