I'm talking more about entry retail/ food service jobs that tend to pay minimum wage or a little above it, but yes, it is more equal in the sense the company can't pay employees any less and doesn't like to issue out raises so everyone at that level gets shit on to maximize the money going to the head honchos and

The pay gap closing is good, but that's still a loss of 7% of what men make for millenial women, and as this is hourly wage instead of salaries, those tend to pay less overall and thus the loss is more highly felt. If you only make around $15k per year, that loss of $1050 on top of taxes is nothing to sneeze at.

Same here. Also, what's the rate of positive conversations/dates when men under/over 5'9" contacted women instead of women contacting men? Like it or not, a large enough segment of society still thinks men should always make the first move and that impacts the results of anything where women are contacting men for

I'd suggest looking at marine animal rescue groups in your area. SeaWorld may be a big name, but they likely aren't the only group (may not even be the best!) where you live. Sadly, there's no way to donate to one aspect of SeaWorld without supporting the other.

This is a good step in the right direction, but I have the feeling there's many more required before the entire orca trade can be shut down (and even more to shut down the cetacean trade in general). Too many people still view them as big, stupid animals and don't consider anything about what happens to them as long

Tilikum isn't the only orca to kill or injure trainers, and even if he was he wouldn't be the last as long as orcas are kept in captivity for the amusement of people. What kids may find amusing does not supersede the welfare of animals — particularly ones that are sentient and will never be able to live in captivity

Geez, that's horrible! I wish the employees that had to deal with the temperature got actual control over it.

I'm in Canada, but sadly I couldn't find anything the company was legally doing wrong for my province (morally is another matter).

Can I just say how frustrating (and cold) it is when the company you work for wants to save money by not turning the heat up or on once it starts getting cold? Because it's friggin' frustrating and cold.

Assuming this even has an impact on the number of women who become pregnant (which is doubtful), better to have a lower birth rate than an increase in STI's which are quickly becoming resistant to traditional antibiotics to the point where some strains require hospitalization and can potentially be deadly.

Same here. I actually could not get into any of the other generations until Transformers Prime because they seemed boring (both the vehicles and writing) or nonsensical to me.

It definitely affected me for a couple weeks after watching it. I nearly tore down a promotional display at work that featured captive orcas because the product was running a contest to win a trip to SeaWorld. The only thing that stopped me was that it was right by the entrance doors and was in camera view.

I wouldn't be surprised.

I've been having an annoying Kinja problem lately and could use some help.

As a woman, I would be fine with this. As would my female friends that I've spent many a time talking to about this very issue. I'd rather play a non-conventionally attractive badass female character that wears proper gear for the setting rather than an "attractive" female character that has the character depth of a

No one's stopping men from voicing that they don't like the way male characters are depicted. There are problems with how men can be depicted in games, but by and large there is a lot more variety with male characters, and their body isn't their main defining feature. It's problematic at times, yes, but it's not as

Reboot was bloody awesome about not resorting to gender stereotypes. Everyone was badass and everyone saved everyone else, and everyone learned that sometimes you need to rely on others instead of being the Big Damn Hero that gets in trouble and puts everyone else in danger.

Why does this remind me of a certain media site? *cough*

And what if one of these $100k condom ideas makes condoms even more reliable and increases the protection even when used incorrectly (which is a weak spot for condoms as they're easy to use incorrectly)? I say $100k for that is worth it, especially as the money is coming from a private individual.

Wrestling is actually a fairly equal sport, all things considered, as it's by weight. This isn't like a 5'2" girl wanting to be on a football team where all the boys are 5'7"+, this is a girl who wants to compete against people who are similar in height and weight to her because there are no girl teams.
