No, it's definitely not aluminum. I don't think there's any aluminum alloy that could take the strain of 700hp running through gear teeth. It's definitely some sort of ferrous alloy, as it does oxidize. If you blow up the photo, you can tell how thin it is. So I'd wager it's actually just high-grade billet steel

Ha, that's a little unfair don't you think? Danica had, what, 10 years of experience in Indy car as of last year? In a very well-funded team with a car whose development cycle was maxed out.

... and weighs 4200lbs and drives with all the performance and excitement of a Camry. The Mustang is 800lbs lighter, has a big trunk, and a +2 that, while hard to get into (just like the Charger) is actually quite comfortable with decent leg room for adults. Kids, it'd be a breeze.

Not false. You can easily beat EPA numbers if you try, or you can come in well under them if you try. See all of the above Corvette posts. The C5/C6 is certainly not rated over 30mpg hwy, even though it's possible.

Yup. Right next to an old piston and valves out of my MX bike.

V6 Mustang, of course. /GT86'd

That car was one of the worst factory F1 efforts ever. But I have a differential gear from it sitting on my counter, so that's cool.

Very impressive engineering by the owner. He's managed to create an vent that actually forms a low pressure zone over the air intake. Brilliant! Everyone knows engines run better when you give less air to the intake!

"Aside from looking nice and bonkers, there actually is a reason for large amounts of negative camber— in cornering, negative camber can maximize contact patch area. "

This post isn't even remotely related to cars. Not even on a vague tangent. It has no business being here.

We hereby take this break from talking about cars to criticize others' religious beliefs.

How do you know the engineer actually made those comments, and they weren't written by a writer (or PR guy) to generate a light-hearted "character" interaction in lieu of cold corporate answers? IE, what plays better - Government Employee Insurance Company, or the GEICO Gecko? Same thing.

Well, advertising and test drives with expenses covered are one thing. It's a whole different ball game when (say for example, Mazda) pays for an article about their product. You think Mazda is going to pay for a story that talks about how awful the Mazda2 is? No. And that's the point. Indirect advertising and

Jalopnik: criticizes reporters for "reviewing" a car in manufacturer-controlled conditions; but accepts cash for story placement.

You simply can't ignore the classic Mercedes Silver Arrows. It was such an iconic scheme that the Mercedes GP cars are still a similar shade of silver today, and the nickname "Silver Arrows" lives on.

*over 100hp/ltr with forced induction.

Farrah: it's New Jersey. No further questions.

Yup. I literally tell people this all. the. time. The regular BMW parts really aren't any worse than other brands of cars if you buy them from the right places and install them yourself. What kills you is the ///M parts surcharge (even on brake parts!) and any labor you can't do yourself. It'll eat you alive. I

Finally, a does of reasonableness from a fellow former BMW owner. It isn't the mechanicals that get you - it's the electronics.

LOL, Cadillac isn't even homologated in the Continental series. Time to get off the internet and go do some actual racing before you open your mouth. /facepalm
