That's true of almost all non-supercars. But, that's at 150mph. A street car is going to have a hard time getting to that even on most road courses. Nonetheless, props to GM for actually caring.

I'd love to visit their museum; I could probably spend days in there. Thanks for all the photos/info, Gimmi!

Nah, even with the higher weight the ZL1 should still have a better power/weight ratio; it's got about 170hp more. Plus it's got MUCH bigger tires and a much more advanced suspension system.

Now playing

I don't know about prior years, but Ford def tested the 2013 at the 'ring (ignore the ridiculous speculation in this vid, well before specs were released). I suspect the Camaro's IRS is VERY helpful at the notoriously rough 'ring, but then, the weight (and now power) is in the Mustang's favor.

Did not know this. Thanks. I suppose the extra weight is derived from the larger engine, S/C, and all the uprated componentry then.

Well, they're both in the Grand-Am GT class. Though, neither are factory efforts and they're pretty far from stock.

I'm not sure what "dubious engineering decisions" you're referring to. Leaving off coolers for the trans, brakes, and diff? Those are track-only items - and road course only, at that. The vaaaaaast majority of GT500s will see little or no road course duty. The road course car is the BOSS, and it comes with all

Question answered. Thanks Mikeado.

I noticed GM left "weight" off their comparison list...

What's the story behind this one? It looks totally different and it doesn't have real doors. Every 300SL I've seen has looked like my picture here.

Serious reply FTL.

Still don't know what this is for.

This isn't a factory built race car. This is a street car that's been stripped, with some upgrades that anyone with a few bucks could do. The engine is nice, but that doesn't make it a race car.

Try that in another 10 years. Or 20. If you can even get the connector. Or the software. And a computer to work with it all. Jets can still be changed, and needles clipped in and out.

This is why both of my motorcycles are totally analogue (save CDI). Why is that a good thing? They run unless they're broken. They don't give a crap if the fuel cap is cracked and leaking gases known to the state of California to cause cancer; I'm not in California anyway, so I'm clear. They don't have fuel

The alternative headline: "Car dealership run by the biggest morons on earth" was not seen here for fear of redundancy.

Bravo.

Um, what? I can't do math, that's why I went to law school.

Looks like he deviated from the common course and had a sudden impact which caused terminal damage to the metal structure.
