Great analysis, Peter/Mark (where's James and John?). Intelligence is a massively important aspect of racing in general, but like everything else, it's strained to the max at the top levels of prototype racing. Data is extremely important, but it can't tell an engineer if a part makes the car *feel* better or worse.

There is no way on the planet those disc brake numbers are correct. Supercars with an additional thousand pounds of weight and 200mph+ top speed use smaller discs than that. 16" rotors wouldn't even fit under 17" rims with even the lowest of low profile calipers.

The Ural is sort of the highway-legal tank of motorcycles. It goes over or through anything, it's virtually indestructible, and super easy to work on.

Not much, relatively...

I'm not a banker, so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong here, but I don't imagine that banks log every bill's serial number before transferring it somewhere else. I figured if it were coming from a Reserve they may be sequential if it's new currency entering the system, but failing that, I don't imagine they'd have

Yeah, good luck with that. Surely the courier has substantial insurance for cases of transporting high-value property. If not, then they'll be writing a big check.

Dammit, that's awesome. And Peter is now jealous of your drawing skills.

Here's how to find the giant Tiger Paw in the middle of Toomer's Corner in Auburn, and other useful non-car things for people who don't live anywhere remotely near Auburn. [en.wikipedia.org]

"Disagreed with Cadillac's position" is a bit less bristly than "You should fix your POS clutch." "Go back to the farm and f-yourself." "Screw you, I can build a better car than your crap." "Prove it." "Done."

Indeed.

Lamborghini v. Ferrari. Only rivalry I know of that started an entire car company.

Failure. Poetic.

If either

To the first part of your statement, it's the teams that are pushing to be in the US. The US is still the world's largest consumer market, and being there will allow the teams to extract significantly more sponsorship dollars. F1's series sponsors are in the same boat, so Bernie does have motivation to be here, even

For most of the tracks, no. The tracks would require a total repave w/ FIA-approved F1 asphalt (made by a single German supplier). That alone would run in the millions. Then there's moving walls, which at most tracks, would also require moving massive amounts of earth. Then you'd have to bring the track's

jpech for the dunk!

IMO: Not going to happen.

2,200 lb-ft of torque?! You've got to get us more info on those things! Like, if the nut jams, how it doesn't break the operators arms straight in half.

Square bore/stroke does not mean "revs to infinity." As a motorcycle guy, you should definitely know this. Square engines strike a fairly even balance between HP and TQ, and it could easily be said, in modern engine design, that it's really an engine designed to make torque. Any engine going for real HP in the

No.
