As someone who runs track/XC for a D1 program in the southeast, our shortest runs are 20-30 shakeout runs. These runs are at about 7:30/mile pace, and meant to make you feel better after the run than when you started.

Google Hangouts is the best and I use it to connect with my parents while I'm at college. Before I used Facebook's built in skype video chat system, but I don't like being distracted by Facebook so Hangouts is better.
