And a major beneficiary of US Aid.

Use of "haters" in official correspondence is always a sign of legitimacy.

Yeah, you CAN be of two minds on some things. For example, I can hate FIFA and be excited for the World Cup.

Yes, I said white immigrants because it sadly took a lot longer for the US to start having a serious problem with non-white slavery. Many immigrants in America today have horrible living and working conditions but acutely poor quality of life doesn't equal indentured servitude. Indentured servitude as an organized

recruiting teams go to Bangladesh, Phillippines and other areas in southern Asia.

I'm sorry, would you prefer the term Indentured Servitude to describe these goings on?

Yeah, "football" fan here and I fully support a total boycot, from the USMNT, the Portuguese National Team and pretty much every other team and sponsor out there. I've already said I pray that Portugual DOESN'T qualify for the 2018 WC so it'll make it easier for me when I boycott watching those games. Same goes for

If you interpreted my comment as a knock on ALL soccer fans, then I apologize for not making the message clear enough. I was merely trying to say that Drew said something sensible which a lot of sports columnists aren't willing to say and predicting there will be people who will get all frothy at the idea of missing

And the comments from the "football" fans finding ways to justify the slavery and corruption will be astonishing and depressing.

Do you have even the slightest idea a) what actual slavery is, and b) what is happening in Qatar? If so, you'd be embarrassed by your post.

I can't imagine there are many true football supporters who support a Qatar World Cup.

I watched every match of the most recent World Cup (thank god for dual monitors at work) and I have no problem accepting a US boycott. It's abhorrent that Qatar can just get away with the slave conditions they are currently employing. Absolutely no justification there.

You lack of perspective aside, your claim is just plain wrong: The last three MLS Cup finals have been held in early December. A World Cup kicking off in November would force MLS to wind up their playoffs and presumably their regular season earlier.

The type of working conditions in China are NOTHING compared to wha's going on right now in Qatar. Inhumane treatment of workers is a terrible thing that essentially every industrializing country ever has gone through on the way to a developed, semi-humane industrial economy. Companies are also putting more oversight

So...?

You are a moron

Yes, that's the important thing.

I think Qatar would sue the ever-loving fuck out of FIFA and they would probably win. At this point, I think that's the only reason this is going ahead as it is.

This is amazing.

While it should be boycotted by every FIFA nation around, it won't be. This falls in MLS' offseason, which makes it perfect. It's a built-in excuse for England to start a winter break, despite the owners and supporters being greatly against it. It kind of / sort of fits in with the rest of Europe's winter break.
