I'm Brazilian and had never heard this, but it actually makes perfect sense. There are an incredible number os Brazilians that never stand behind the team after a loss, let alone a loss this spectacular.

Nah, I've seen many Brazilians congratulating Julio Cesar (as well as David Luiz). He's not a bad goalkeeper, he is just not a miracle worker. Not many blame Julio for the loss.

As a Brazilian, I agree with you. People are taking it too far burning flags and going crazy. I think this year though it hits a bit too close to home, because the cup IS at home and Brazilians since the beginning were pissed about the cup being in Brazil.

I don't know where you read that, but it couldn't possibly happen. World cups are always held in June-July, the Brazilian "semesters" begin in January, and the school year always ends around December, which is when the graduations happen.
