@Asterra: " Four years into the waiting game, is it time yet to stop believing that the PS3 will eventually exhibit incontrovertible superiority? Like, when developers "get used to the Cell"? Are Square Enix' 4.5 years of work not enough, then?"

@Kobun: I was able to repeat your findings by standing in a completely different house to my television. I could also see no difference.

@Aklost: You're welcome. I'm sure that the game is perfectly playable on the 360, but if you have the choice then the PS3 is your man.

@FrankieViturello: "Yeah, this nit-picking over graphic detail is pretty silly."

@Shewgenja: It seems that the 360 runs a little smoother when it comes to close-up shots in the cutscenes (hardly surprising given the lower resolution), but they're practically identical in terms of framerate during actual gameplay.

@y2julio: Fear not, I'm sure that Square Enix will continue to bring (at least the mainstream) FF games to the 360. Outside of Japan, anyway.

@Aklost: PS3 cutscenes are native 1080P, gameplay is native 720P. 360 cutscenes and gameplay are both native 576P upscaled to 720P.

@You probably won't like me: "So, occasionally fine, sometimes grim: a statement that effectively sums up how much of Final Fantasy XIII looks on Xbox 360 when compared to the PlayStation 3 game, meaning that if you own both consoles, there really is only one choice when it comes to the purchasing decision."

@Zombie16[THC]: Cheers for the info. I had heard of DIVX thanks to Penny Arcade, but I couldn't remember the specifics of the "melting disks". I still think that it would be cool to have your entire game free on a mag cover disk, but it "melts" after 48 hours. Much more convenient than trying to download a 6GB

@DukeOfPwn: I do indeed. Thanks for the correction :)

Cute. They showed some video of this during the recent G4TV(?) reveal of GOW3, and it looked pretty cool. Might have to check it out.

Jeez. Who tied YOUR kangeroo down, sport?

@tako9: Kotaku approves your comment. No censorship here. Hey wait, what happened to the rest of my comment...

Interesting. Wasn't an idea floated around a few years ago where you would pay a rental price for a movie on disk, you'd then keep the disk (no need to return it) but once unwrapped the disk would start to physically decompose and after a week or so would no longer work? It would only have been the data layer that

@dowingba: Recommended boss order: LethallyToughMan. QuiteDeadlyMan. FormidableMan. AboveAverageMan. SoSoMan. WeakMan. NambyPambyMan. NotEvenAManMan.

I don't have a problem with the lack of multiplayer at all. However, other developers have indicated that there is strong statistical evidence for games with a multiplayer element being traded in less frequently than games with no multiplayer ("hmm, I might want try that multiplayer at some point in the future, I'll

@Bubbleman!: Your opinion is clearly more compelling evidence than an in-depth graphical analysis carried out by a respected group of industry professionals, so it would seem that there really is nothing to this at all. Thanks for clearing that up.

@Pombar: From the looks of things, the PS3 only has trouble hitting 30FPS during some close-up shots during cut scenes. In actual gameplay, both systems manage to hit 30FPS pretty consistently.

@Manly_McBeeferton: Pro-tip: You can pick it up on Steam for about $10 these days. It looks better than it ever did on the PS2, never has any loading screens and - best of all - the many mods available for it include one that adds the ability to swim :)
