I don't know about you, but my HDTV has a USB port on the back that can charge things, no more than a few inches away from where I'd be plugging in the Chromecast dongle. It's probably why Google felt they could get away with this solution. The kit includes a USB cable and separate power adapter.

Just plug the USB cable into your TVs USB ports. They are powerful enough to power my Riko Magic it will be powerful enough for this.
