Oh absolutely me, it may be bonkers and nonsense but I LOVE the bonkers and nonsense. It’s a franchise with hours and hours of cutscenes, it’s safe to say plenty of people are drawn to that aspect.

I’ve made it a tradition to boot up Contra (and other classics) on an emulator + controllers in my classroom during the final week of school as we pack up. Watching 13-15 year-olds struggle with this game is incredibly entertaining.

Was introduced to the game by my cousin. I was playing it with her sister (closer to my age) and made her cry because she told me the cheat code, but wouldn’t tell her sister. To add a crueler twist, she made me promise not to share with her sister otherwise she wouldn’t tell me the code.

I haven’t played the NES Contra in decades, but I can clearly remember the music for this stage. Good times. Can’t wait to play them again.

I played the first game so much that I was able to eventually complete the game initially without using a continue and then eventually on a single life.
