I don't agree. I liked the performance a lot, think it actually avoided a lot of your standard oscar bait stuff and felt like he really humanized someone who, for me, had always been presented as an almost saintly figure. I thought he was terrific and were the awards the "Bears Awards for Acting Goodness" it'd be him…

Good point. Plus, as much as I like Selma and Oyelowo's acting, his part is stereotypical bio-pic Oscar-bait in a way that Denzel's Training Day role, for instance, was not.

When I was 15, I spent an unseemly amount of time in my room listening to Collective Soul and Smashing Pumpkins. I'm glad no one judges me for it.

As a recovering Floridian and a Democrat, I was never going to vote for Jeb anyway, but this story doesn't necessarily speak to his "true" character, as far as I'm concerned. If people judged me now by the way I behaved when I was 15 or 16, my life would be very different.
