One thing I like about the way the show is made is that the producers know they're making changes, and they know some book-readers will not like them, but they do take time to throw in little nods to the readers.

I thought Brienne was simply responding to a threat. She and Arya were engaging in some mutual, female-warrior admiration, when The Hound comes out ready to draw steel. Pod identifies him to her as a man with a fearsome reputation, and she is understandably wary.
