This is as stupid as the claims that America was innocent about oral sex until Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky did it in the White House.

Of course, part of the insanity of racism are the white people who claim that black people are not smart or successful, and then get enraged whenever they come across a black person who IS smart and successful. White racists cannot tolerate the idea of black achievement and will do everything they can to undermine it.

A few points.

Mehrsa Baradaran is right to a large degree about how black people have been excluded from equal economic participation, but the rest of the interview is incredibly superficial and historically deficient. And the insistence on the potential magic of reparations is just odd, and probably wrong.

Simply having people line up to “speak out” about Weinstein doesn’t really solve the problem.

Ok, let’s drop “satire” and just go with “stupid.”

A matter of taste. It took me time to warm to The Expanse. I had not read the novels, but heard what a great show it was.

It wasn’t just that the ticket buyers were male, they were older male. I have no idea how that compares to the Wonder Woman demographics, and in the end, I don’t really care. Studios should just make good movies, and acknowledge that not all of them will be a box office success.

Agree that the Expanse is a great show. But they’ve had more episodes to pull all the various strands of their story together.

I don’t have a problem with that. None at all. You keep or kill a character because it works for the story you are telling. They killed the main Klingon character early on and I am not entirely sure what ethnicity the actor was. Because it doesn’t matter. The “Discovery” cast is fairly diverse; it is interesting that

The original Trek timeline obviously doesn’t work any more. Best not to think about it.

Now, let me get this straight. Vogel says she hasn’t made personal attacks just before making a personal attack. Okaaay...

RE: It’s not much of a conflict, considering he asked her to stay on. Why does it need a central conflict?

Did Little Richard say anything in the interview about hating gay people or persecuting gay people? If not, I don’t care that much about his personal struggles except to know that it has obviously been a struggle, and obviously something that he has had to wrestle with his entire life.

I would strike off Dune and Battle Royale and add The Fifth Element and Men In Black instead.

No, the Pixelbook is not a good value at all. Ultimately, Chrome OS and the available apps are inferior to an Apple laptop or a laptop running Windows. Even compared to high end tablets, the Pixelbook is simply not a good value.

No Powell and Pressburger? Not much of a list, then. To the films mentioned, I would add “I Know Where I’m Going.”

My turn to be terse. You keep trying to justify your statements by using the Declaration of Independence. Sorry it doesn’t work. It’s a fancy way to justify breaking away, but is useless for guidance after a new and presumably government has been formed. Also odd that you would bother referring to it if the judgments

Let’s focus on the US. There is no right to secede, not even in principle. The Constitution provides for a republic. There is no right to reconfigure the US into, say, a anarchic Nirvana. The idea that states are sovereign is a useful fiction, because there are limits under the constitution. Individuals can leave and
