Heh. Don't confuse my early morning brain with subtlety!! This is me, from midnight until noon/coffee:
Although "able to get" and "wanting" are far different beasts — says my lifetime experience in a country-of-snow. Warm meals, warm belly, etc.
Heehee, I am now picturing you with an obsessive tick where you blurt out "but have you read Tailchaser's Song??" whenever you meet anyone new, only to have your hopes dashed yet again.
I was about to say, "What about The Wood?" and then realized that was almost 15 yrs ago. Yeesh.
That's such a pain! Kinja, you crazy.
I am, yes — can you not see the imbedded images (in both cases, a very large photo of the book's cover)? If not, the other one is a book called Tailchaser's Song.
"One cold wintry day in London, I was dreaming about salad nicoise—one of my favorites."
This book has everything — especially FALCONS, Y'ALL. And it takes the protagonist seriously.
Glad I scanned the thread, was just about to post this!
It was Pepin! Thanks, that was killing me. I can't recall if it was Top Chef or TC Masters, but he was very amiable. Cold be a right nightmare in real life, of course, but his TV persona (while the judges were all drunk on wine, no less, if I recall) was pretty positive. Unlike some of the more arsehole-y judges.
I had to reread that, because I thought the Masterchef folks had come up with an official grocery box delivery home game. They should make this happen.
ooooh. I've actually been desperate for a new, fun little cooking show to put on while I eat (although I usually default to competition-based ones like TC or Chopped) so this is a welcome tip.
Thanks for sharing that!
I think it's because underneath it all she's clearly... (whispers) ...nice**.
Gross. I'm sorry to hear that. I hope the men working with you are learning from and disturbed by this, and not simply hoping to perpetuate and profit from it as their own careers grow.
Is she a frequent guest judge on Top Chef/TCM? She looks very familiar, and if she is indeed the woman I'm thinking of, she is lovely. I always enjoy watching her, her warmth and enthusiasm seem so genuine. The book's description doesn't appeal to me per se, but I may have to check it out just because I'm rooting…
I need a shower.
This will still forever be my favorite "double lady news anchors!" precedent:
Your last sentence just made me laugh all kinds of hard.
