Isn’t the “don’t eat fish while pregnant” thing because of the high levels of mercury present in some species? Especially the fresh water kind?

Please do not eat turtles or tortoises. They reach maturity very slowly and many species are threatened, endangered or extinct because people keep eating them faster than they can replenish their populations.

We have a serious lack of mental health infrastructure in this country, and it’s only getting worse, since it’s a low pay, low prestige field to go into, and is difficult and depressing to boot.

Obama was an old-school Rockefeller Republican who talked progressive. He and Hillary were in lock-step on policy, and no-one seems to have much issue with pointing out that she’s a status- quo corporatist. He is too.

He also did diddly bumkis about prosecuting all the people who lied and stole us into the housing crash. Or the Iraq war, for that matter.

What I want to know is why do they ask how things are when no-one at the table has had a single bite yet?

I mean, have you ever experienced the smell of their “bread” baking? It’s horrifying. It smells like a science experiment involving yoga mat foam.

Well, if it’s the royal wedding, they probably have fine china passed down from one of their conquests of a far-away country or something.

This will last until the first several overdoses in the bathrooms, then be quietly discontinued, alas.

If real universal healthcare is too hard politically, how about we at least shoot for medicare buy-in, where you pay your premiums to the govt to get Medicare if you aren’t old enough for it yet? It’s non-profit, so you aren’t paying the 20% + surcharge for profit to the insurer, and the administrative costs are also…

Some of this may be really, really angry Puerto Rican transplants and their friends and relatives, as well.
