35-year old Yankees fan here who fell in love with the 80’s and early 90’s teams. The son of a man who spent his early adult years loving the late 60’s/early 70’s disaster of a franchise. A couple of thoughts. First, older fans have had to deal with incremental accomplishments because that’s all they had from 79 until the mid-90s. Second, the Yankees have been a brand name in baseball for decades. The reputation and the expectations aren’t some artifact of the 90s.
