The blackface in that film isn’t problematic. It’s the context that matters. No one is pretending he is black. He’s not playing a black person. Black people in the film comment on how it’s not right. You can show things in a film and not condone them. 

Making every black person killed by police a martyr leaves you in a position where you are defending terrible people who got themselves killed by the police and lessens the ability to point out actual bad police behavior, of which there is plenty.
