This is big: the Supreme Court will finally rule on whether same-sex marriage is a right under the Constitution.

That's just silly. There are serious and painful consequences for DUI (even besides the human costs) that dissuade many people from getting behind the wheel when they're drunk. Serious and painful consequences for sexual assault would likely do the same, even with drunk people.
Is there any rapist out there who is all "Yeah, she didn't want it but I went ahead and did it anyway?" EVERY FUCKING RAPIST SAYS THE PERSON THEY RAPED WANTED IT.
Women are in this weird place where socially & economically we don't really neeeeed to get married, but it's still implied that we're defective if we don't get married. It's a tough place to be. Logically, I know I'd rather be my myself than be married to someone I wasn't bonkers about just for the sake of being…
Wasn't it Agatha Christie who said "Every murderer is someone's old friend?"
Speaking of vomiting... Are we really supposed to believe that this kid saw Rehtaeh vomiting out a window and believed her to be capable of consenting to sex? What? Who would think "I know she just threw up from alcohol, but she's not stopping me so she must be into it?"
Just the fact that he would say that speaks to something lacking in his brain, you know? She threw up out a fucking window and this kid is trying to say they were in the groove? What the fuck is a groove to him? It's sooo belittling and dismissive and just fucking gross. So gross.
How much further in the sand could his mother's head be? You raised this monster, now fucking deal with him. Because this isn't his last time.
"I will not live with the guilt of someone passing away."
Yeah there's the "kid got busted drinking in the park with his friends" and then there's "kid rapes a girl and takes a photo" ... not QUITE the same thing.
Can we drop the "good kid/person who made some mistakes" narrative as a defense? The only thing that sentence means is "yes [he/she] is a [rapist/murderer/pedophile/violent bigot], but I [the speaker] still love [him/her]." Honestly, I couldn't care less that you still love your rapist son or violent bigot husband. …
while his parents defend him as a good kid "who's made some mistakes."
"Police say they don't have enough evidence to charge. They also waited ten months to investigate."
"We were in the groove." I want to vomit.
That is exactly my point! It would be arrogant to say so just like it is for her to assume that her achievements are what we all want.
I agree with everything you say other than "I don't believe she intended to fat shame." I don't see what other possible reason she could have for posting it under that header. To imply that women who isn't thin is obviously making excuses because otherwise she would be thin is pretty heavy fat-shaming.
"If I can do it, you can do it," is a problematic thing to say under any circumstances. It's so arrogant. People have different motivations, priorities, skills, personalities and experiences. Get over yourself. Other people are not you, and - hard to believe, I know - may not even want to be.
