This is actually really easy to explain. After the Resonance Cascade there’s a scientist in that room that knocks over a cabinet to kill a headcrab. In order to animate that cabinet falling over it had to be an NPC because they couldn’t easily animate the rotation of props. Since it’s an NPC it tracks the player.
