Half curious if the story & character development of these six eps was originally supposed to be drawn out & told in a longer expanded form over a couple of series (or maybe a 10-13 ep series), but he knew he was leaving so just compressed everything down to finish the story before he handed the series over to RTD.…

You’re right, Gaiman doesn’t own Sandman or any or the characters & has said as much several times whenever it comes up.

There’s a changelog on https://ifdb.fanedit.org/dune-the-alternative-edition-redux/ under “Changes”, but basically it uses material from the Theatrical release, the Extended Edition & deleted scenes from the dvd, but it also moves some scenes around & cuts some stuff that felt wrong to the fan editor.

The BBC did a 8 part radio adaption in the 70s if you’re curious. I mean you don’t have to listen to the whole thing, but it’s all up on YouTube if you’re interested. (maybe a bit dated, but from what I remember it’s reasonably faithful to the books)

The Amazons? Yeah, I think so, but I also remember other characters (Maybe Dr Mann? Not sure) saying all the y chromosome sperm had died which was why they had to try cloning. (I could be wrong though)

They might’ve changed it for the show, but if I remember all the y chromosome sperm died in the comics as well, so sperm banks were not an option. (also the comic never explained what killed all the men & it was never clear if it was a disease or some sort of supernatural event, but again they might be changing that…

Oh lord I forgot about Fury & Hector Hall. I’ll understand if they drop Mr Miracles dream sequence & Morpheus visiting the JLA for the ruby, but some of the DC references are baked into the story, so I’m not sure if they can cut all ties to the DCU & still have it be the same story, but we’ll just have to wait & see I…

They’d only be minor characters, but they haven’t announced casting of Mr Miracle or The Martian Manhunter yet, so maybe they’re ditching that?

Johanna Constantine was only in two issues of the original series, so I wonder if Gaiman has rewritten things a bit so she’ll replace John in the modern day stories?
