I LOVE THE OBAMAS...but...
No. Other than this it's actually a really great show.
It's not even that so much as the fact that the rape undermines the show. Reign is GREAT and it's been so good at showing these female characters who are really struggling to break the bonds that hold them and fight against the constraints of their position in society. These are fully developed young women with real,…
Seriously. People need to stop depicting rape of a woman as a way injure the man who loves/owns her.
I 100 per cent agree with you - there was no glorifying rape at all, they showed it clearly as being a horrible violation that left Mary physical and emotionally injured. I understand that some people don't like to recognize that rape was even more prevalent then than it is now, but it was. It was a horrible aspect of…
Of course no one on this show 'had to get raped'. This isn't real. But it's absurd to object any time a rape is depicted on TV (which you guys seem too do pretty consistently) precisely because it is an altogether too common fact of life. And this being on The CW, I have to be really skeptical about how 'graphic' the…
This is Marnie singing at the company party levels of embarrassing.
I feel sorry for Allison Williams.
Better get a good supply of markers. He almost certainly ain't the only rapist with a star there.
So she blacked out and then woke up in the middle of blowing a dude? Being blacked out means you can't give legal consent.
Yeah. I am comfortable making the assumption that 0% of unreported rapes are false accusations because by definition they, well, did not include any accusation.
I don't think anyone is arguing that false accusations aren't a really bad thing. Now if you think being falsely accused (or even convicted, taking into account the typical punishment) is as bad or worse than being raped, you're obviously off your rocker. But you haven't said that, so I'll give you the benefit of the…
He wasn't exonerated. He was never adequately investigated or prosecuted. A lack of evidence to pursue charges isn't the same thing as exonerating evidence.
I, for one, am glad that you are a former prosecutor given your affinity for anecdotal evidence.
The only thing as vicious as rape is falsely accusing someone of rape.
Maybe they do, except they basically never do. Where's the rash of false accusations against athletes by all these imagined gold diggers?
You can do things to increase your chances of being struck by lightning or being falsely accused of impropriety.
How many false rape accusations have you heard of since then? None? One? A handful? And how many actual rape allegations? Hundreds? Thousands?
You might think so as a matter of logic, but there's no evidence to support that, and really what evidence there is points in the opposite direction. Believe it or not, most women don't want to be torn apart by high-priced lawyers and PR teams. If you want to extort an athlete, there are many easier ways.
When I read his statement last night, I couldn't believe that anyone could be that dense. Then I realized that he most likely didn't write that statement.
