Better to put it on hold than drop into development hell for the next 5 -6 years in my opinion, we’re only a week out from seeing that the best end result to that is that you leave millions of fans anticipating a game for so long that the end result is nothing short of lackluster.
Halo hasn’t had a main series release for almost three years now, I think it might be worth waiting until they actually release the game before declaring whether or not people care.
Did you miss the part where every game has to have a free trial included. Can’t really ask for more than that to make a decision about whether to jump in before the full release.

If they actually were left unlocked the consoles themselves would be banned again the second somebody took notice of some of the games people were importing. Region locking in most countries sucks (Looking at you Nintendo), but region locking in China, I'm afraid that's just common sense.
