I know of enough people with very expensive homes full of mediocre stuff. No discerning customer will ever take ceiling mounted loudspeakers seriously. The acoustics just don't work out.
I ask because ceiling loud speakers are barely acceptable for blaring around shitty christmas music in a mall, let alone for the living room of a discerning customer.
ceiling loudspeakers? Do you live in a mall?
Well, in theory a mountain bike has slightly more customization options. But it would be nice if someone notices a customization. And while people would notice if I would put black paint at the edges of my frame lugs, nobody would care if you would do that to your mountainbike.
They do make quite a bit of sense, but it seems our external factors differ greatly. I live in the netherlands. 95% of the bikes here has a rack and fenders. And most fixies don't have fenders, or full fenders at least. That's not even talking about the practicality of a upright seating position, full chain guard and…
As I said, fixies are frequently old racing bikes. Old racing bikes have been raced, have had a hard life and usually are made with lightness in mind. Therefore they require more cla than for example old roadsters. It's not that I hate fixies. They're just not cheap. Also, a lot of old racing bikes already have a…
I've bought, repaired, sold and ridden into the ground quite a lot of bikes.Fixies are usually based on old racing bikes. Cheap old racing bikes usually require some cla, and that requires tools. I've rebuilt quite a bit of bottom brackets, headsets, hubs and wheels. You don't have to convince me, I'm quite…
When compared to most other bikes, a fixie lacks fenders and a carrier rack. Not practical. Especially when it's raining, or snowing you'll get covered.
To be honest, $1000 for 4 bikes is expensive. And any problems that do come up frequently requires specialized hub cone wrenches, bottom bracket tools, headset tools, spoke wrenches, crank pullers and other tools. Also, an exposed chain requires frequent cleaning. If anything goes wrong on a bike, it's quite often…
While I agree with you that they're quite expensive and not very practical. Fixies are super customizable. From paint to rim height to spoke pattern, component selection, tires, saddles, bar tape etc etc.
Well, useless is a bit harsh. A derailleur isn't expensive, and a ground off hook can be replaced by a separate derailleur hook.
Please state your point instead of semi-intelligently asking questions.
