Wheels from a Lexus hybrid es300h - same outer circumference and the same offset & bolt pattern. Very much lighter than the ponderous steel wheels it came with; the handling went from leaden to willing dance partner.

This is one of those concepts that is “fine” if you play its rules, but will be indescribably maddening if you need it to do something counter to its logic.

I think Tesla’s end goal is to make a car that’s basically an iPhone with wheels and seats and (usually) a roof. Every step towards the featureless-monolith esthetic is a step in the wrong direction in terms of function, for both cars and communication devices, but as long as they (and their customers) think it looks…

If they were going to merge, you would never be able to tell until they’re already doing it.

1st Gear: Side gig, nothing, this IS their business. While I personally view Musk as a clown, Tesla has gotten into the position where it gets paid to exist by its competition.

Let’s table the cats for a second. First, newly built electric cars ARE required to make noise of at least 43db as of late 2020. I believe this is stupid, but it’s codified under the label of “pedestrian safety”.

Now I know they didn’t use the GM logo on the outside much but I remember getting branded with the GM logo on old metal seatbelt buckles similar to these in the 80's when they were in the sun on a hot summers day.
