4:3 is a totally valid aspect ratio with plenty of compositional potential, which was is why it was the primary aspect ratio for the first few decades of cinema, why it was chosen as the aspect ratio for TV in the first place, and why it’s the main aspect ratio for IMAX. It’d actually be really cool if people got over

people just expect too much. most games are going to have problems like this. it’s just the reality of the medium.

It’s really never been my experience in my several decades of gaming that non-AAA games are buggy messes.

then you clearly don’t understand the point I’m making.

I’m not talking about indie games made by three people that cost $15-$25, I’m talking about physical retail games made by smaller less well known developers that are a new IP and cost $40 to $60. stuff like Dead Island and the first Saints Row.

This game works, Zack states he played for 18 hours.. sounds like its working properly.. If bugs and glitches to you means its not playing properly then might I suggest you never buy another game again.. I’ve yet to see a single game get released with zero bugs or glitches.

Skipping potentially negative review bits because I want to love or hate this game on my own terms. I think it looks cool as f@ck and want to encourage innovation.

Man, your comment reeks of toxic gamer entitlement...

No one says be “cool” with it, but maybe some understanding and not have such high expectations of a new team and their very first game??

I think you are being a little overly critical here, in regards to the game. If I read your article correctly, you state this is the very first game this team has ever made.. then you proceed to blast them for the bugs like this is their 5th game and come at them like they should know better...

I’m not talking about indie games. I’m talking about games big enough to to get a big physical retail releases but aren’t as big as stuff like Resident Evil or Call of Duty.

all I’m saying is set your expectations appropriately.

If Biomutant sounds like your kind of game, and it might be, one thing to keep in mind is that it’s currently a buggy mess. This could change with patches, but at least now, I would be wary of recommending it to anyone who can’t stand some jank in their experience. On PS5 I dealt with 18 crashes. It ended up

It’s extremely possible I will find the exposition annoying too, but honestly something preachy like so much stuff in the 1990s sounds refreshing to me. I grew up with optimism and all kinds of moral lessons in Star Trek: The Next Generation/DS9/Voyager and even Captain Planet, even if the latter has absolutely no

It’s pretty easy to criticize almost anything as a fetch quest. Personally, I listen to what the NPCs say in games and that interests me. If it happens to involve getting something, I don’t just call it a fetch quest and call it a day.

I’ve seen some other design in MMORPGs called “theme park design” as a criticism.

Did Police Jenny of Vermillion City brag about her 99% conviction rate? Or how Pikachu can’t have a lawyer present until after the interrogation? Did she force Pikachu to sign the confession, as it would be best for all parties to admit guilt, no matter what?

I will never understand why they thought geographic exclusives were a good thing. Like rotating exclusives (such as Solrock and Lunatone) are fine, and Pokemon that are more common in certain regions is understandable, but exclusive? Wha?

I’d rather Jalopnik didn’t report on the ooh-ahh sensational aspects of accidents in which people got killed. “Isn’t it just crazy how this car got split in half by a tree? By the way the driver died!” isn’t what I want to see driving advertising dollars into Jim Spanfeller’s herb-encrusted pockets.
