The difference is that you can still press the buttons on either side of a direction, while still keeping your finger on that button. Yes, functionally, you can just press each direction separately, but that's missing the point, a set of directional buttons and a D-pad, when pressed on their cardinal directions, will

You can do rolls on the Playstation D-pad, reliably as a Nintendo cross styled D-pad because it's just a cross D-pad hidden under the chassis. The Steam controller looks like each of the directional buttons are each its own button, not physically connected to the others.

Why would something like this needing a reason to happen, would make it better?

NO NO NO. THAT IS FUCKING WRONG. Snake's rapid aging as SHIT ALL TO DO WITH FOXDIE. Did Robert Browne or Marlon Heimerl play any of the games at all?

The difference is that the Playstation D-pad ISN'T separate buttons, the D-pad is one piece that is covered by plastic in the middle. Functionally, it's a cross style D-pad that only looks like it's made of discreet buttons.

MGS can be completed in less than 2 hours.
MGS2 can be completed in less than 1h40min.
MGS3 can be completed in less than 1h30min.
MGS4 can be completed in less than 1h30min.
MGR can be completed in less than 2 hours.

And yet most of us probably spent 20+ hours on each game the first time we played it.
