IIRC, William Macy was only contracted through season 11 anyway. Maybe he doesn’t want to do it anymore and they decided that they can’t Shameless without Frank.
The major reason why early backlit systems had such poor battery life was the type of backlight they were using. They used CCFL bulb type lighting which really ate batteries. However, you can buy a mod kit for these old systems that use much more power efficient LED lighting which can double battery life.
And it played certain games in vertical mode! Interestingly enough, Atari didn’t design the Lynx, the software company Epyx did. They were short on capital to market it so they licensed it to Atari to make.

The worst part of this game is that no LCD monitor can really mimic the look of a vector monitor. Vector monitors look about 10 times brighter than an LCD monitor. I know it’s not their fault since nobody has made vector monitors in about 30 years.
