“We meet our protagonists Emma (Ambika Mod) and Dexter (Leo Woodall) on one specific day, July 15 (the obscure St. Swithin’s Day), every year from 1989 throughout their lives as their relationship deepens and evolves.”
“’Tis!” replied Aunt Helga.
Kippers for breakfast! Is it St. Swithin’s Day already?
I’ve not watched this yet but, yeah, if they don’t take on the reporters here for not doing their jobs as well it’s a whitewash.
This. It doesn’t matter whether they catch the right person. All that matters is they can report another case closed, so their statistics look good.
Silence of the Holy Lambs? Hot? Happy? Horny?
The rape scene in The Accused is horrendous and will stay with you for a long time. Saying it’s hard to watch is an understatement.
It definitely IS graphic, but it’s also a fantastic film and one of Foster’s best performances.
I am digging how they are really leaning into the ‘detective’ part of the title this season. Creepy vibes all the way around in this setting, of course, but hey—at least they don’t have to deal with vampires like the poor bastards over in Barrow...I mean, probably, but the supernatural elements so far in this season…
yeah, great movie but that scene...tough to watch.
Good call with Mare of Easton comparison, fucking LOVED that show as well as 1st season of True Detective. I am totally getting these vibes and I am all in. Hopefully Night Country delivers all the way through that 2nd and 3rd seasons didn’t.
Seeing Jodie Foster having sex with a man was weird for me. I know she's an actor...but still...
So far a good job of making this story and its characters feel “lived in”.
Little slices of stir crazy and loneliness and hormones and grudges and secrets.
Life in a northern town.
That seems to be Bai Ling’s thing. She’s never shied away from showing skin, but it seems like ever since she got implants, her boobs have to feature prominently in everything she shares.
It’s Bai Ling, I don’t think she does photos any other way, kinda her schtick. Besides, when friends pass, we can’t control the photos we already took with them.
Not familiar with Bai Ling, huh?
I’m sure some of that was translation though, right?
I thought we all agreed that the best Christmas commercial was the incest coffee ad.
Thanks for the response. My parents were an avowed atheist father and a non-practicing Jewish mother so I got very little in the way of religious instruction. Thankfully Dad wasn’t an anti religion type of atheist but he was also a conspiracy theorist so he may have had an inkling that people who live in glass houses…
