I mean, in the end that’s part of the issue with sitcoms in general: The men are these overgrown children causing all sorts of outlandish trouble making life for the family hell. But then there are these moments sprinkled in that makes the audience go “Aww, they really do love each other!” That’s calculated sitcom

As someone in recovery for drugs I don’t think Armond is a villain. Often substances can get you the same thing that you want sober in an unhealthy way, whether it’s communicating what you want, making space for yourself, being seen, etc. He’s just exercising what little agency he has with these awful guests and is

I just got done with a book on serial killers (as a historical/social/sociological phenomenon), and in most of the cases the book describes, even the serial killers-as-high school students would have read this and thought it was fucked up.

No, I’m sorry, but if you ever bullied a disabled kid, you deserve a long drop with a short stop. Everyone knows from a young age what cruelty is, and most kids understand things like developmental disabilities, especially in an industrialized and highly educated society like Japan. I hope this dude gets his teeth

I’d only point out that it’s always worthwhile to examine a bully’s behavior, regardless of when that person thinks that behavior started/stopped. Bullying usually manifests into other forms of abuse as bullies get older.

Holy cow, that’s some really f***ed up stuff he did - does that sort of behavior still count as “school bullying”? When I read that headline, I wasn’t picturing anything this extreme.  It sounds like assault/abuse.

I was going to guess it was Oliver Stone. Presumably the book is clear it's meant to be FFC then?

Eh. I get that divorce happens and that it’s a big, emotional, disruptive life event for people, but there’s a very specific type of story about divorce - middle class, liberal white people who either live in a city or the wealthy suburbs of a city discovering that middle class American life isn’t all it’s cracked up

“smart” took a backseat to “debate”

How good is Exterminate All The Brutes??

“Woman holds up sign reading “You’re All Winners!” Accidentally kills 10 people.”

according to google there are actually multiple possible shows on netflix that could fit your description, but i suspect you are thinking of ‘la revolution’ which is of course french for ‘the revolution’

Please say it doesn’t dance.

There’s this weird fallacy that if institutions let you down or can’t be trusted, then opposing/outsider sources therefore *can*. You see that with alternative medicine, alt-right politics, new media, pseudoscience, and so forth.

This is not an accurate report on what Critical Race Theory is at all. It’s not a single book; it’s an academic paradigm.

I’m hoping they don’t run with it, partly because I think Ava’s realization while she’s talking to DJ makes for deeper growth as the show progresses.

Just gonna refresh how absurdly stacked Statsky’s writer credits are...

Maxim still exists?

Oh fuck off with this. Even the comments on The Root were calling out how ridiculous this accusation is.

I kind of presumed some would push back on the Ross kid being guilty of the murder, but while watching while it was unfolding, so many fragments of scenes earlier in the series started to make more sense, because without the context, they were just odd and curious. I didn’t think it a cheap twist especially given how
