Dude. No. Don't be one of those respectability politics types who tries to pit different expressions of sexuality by BW against each other. You do know that Janelle Monae explicitly talks about the dangers of doing EXACTLY THAT in her music, yes? I completely agree that Janelle deserves more love than she gets, but…
Kat would that "Beyonce-Free Zone" be say, the other dozen or so articles published on the site today that had absolutely nothing to do with Beyonce? I like you and your comments a lot, but I have to echo the other commenters here. Not in the objections to your opinions of the artist in question, which I support your…
Who are some women musicians who you think should be getting more praise?
The difference between Lady Gaga and Beyonce is: Beyonce doesn't pander to the homosexuals at all (like Gaga does). All she has to do is put out her music and they come to her. Her songs don't have offensive titles like Gypsy nor do they have lyrics with the words Oriental and chola. There are many other things, too.
It's like you're totally unaware of the scroll feature.
One of the things I love about her album is that it isn't just feminism, it's Black feminism. Pretty Hurts contains a call-out to beauty standards based on whiteness. Flawless contains a quote on feminism not just from a feminist, but from a Nigerian feminist.
You can probably carve out that zone for yourself by not clicking on articles that are specifically and entirely about Beyonce.
I am one of those "stupid" people that uses the pullout method as the primary form of birth control with my monogamous partner. Planned parenthood actually lists the percent effectiveness as 96% when always used correctly, which is slightly worse than condoms at 98% but more effective than the diaphram, female condom,…
Well that was a bit of a leap. How does "skinny does not equal beautiful" mean "skinny is never beautiful"? I'm fairly certain OP meant that skinny is not the end all be all of beautiful and that things other than skinny are beautiful too.
Uh wow way to comprehend what you're reading. What the op wrote means "skinny does not equal beautiful" not "skinny is not beautiful".
That's not what =/= means.
Skinny doesn't automatically equal beautiful isn't the same as skinny and beautiful are mutually exclusive.
This obviously wasn't meant to mean no skinny person is beautiful, ever, but rather: skinny does not equal beautiful in that there is more to beauty than body shape. It's quite hilarious to see so many skinny people here butthurt about such a harmless comment. Try living as a fat person just for one day and you will…
I didn't read the comment as meaning that skinny couldn't be beautiful, only that skinny and beautiful are not synonymous. Beautiful = beautiful; body type has no bearing in that equation.
I think that's what 1437wren meant. "Skinny is not the same as beautiful" doesn't mean that "skinny is ugly," just that there is beauty beyond skinny.
And sometimes the two darker skinned parents can pop out a lighter skin child and then there are whispers and theories about what the hell is going on there.
A very quick story:
