Top tens are subjective. For instance, I would have to find a spot for Wipeout 2097/XL in mine. Snatcher, too. And Vagrant Story. But these games are NEVER mentioned in websites' top ten lists.

I remember when Half-life first dropped. I remember the impact it had. It rewrote the rulebook for first person shooters. Unreal and Quake 2 were fantastic games in their own right, but Half-life was a completely different animal. It deserves to be up there with the likes of Deus Ex and Doom imho.

Bay also screwed up the Megatron/Starscream dynamic. Starscream's two-faced, shady personality and desire to usurp Megatron as leader of the Decepticons was one of the best things about TF, but it wasn't even touched upon in the movies.

Bay can't do drama, or build-up, or tension. He can do swooping low-angle camera shots and slow motion explosions. The man shows absolutely zero subtlety in his direction.
