That may be fine for browsing or facebook, but for music production or working from home, my two main uses other than gaming, its not gonna work. Anyway what happens when I wanna play a shooter? A mousemat on a cushion with a keyboard on my knee would be horribly imprecise.

Sure, sat there with a keyboard and mouse on my lap. Efficient.

What and use that PC for nothing else?

41 inch TV, sat on the sofa playing with your feet up. That kind of thing.

Good detail.

Well if it doesn't fit your needs then if it was free its still poor value. It was really for those people for whom £25 is the only barrier.

I think the speed thing has been a poisoned chalice for Sonic. It worked so well in the initial Megadrive games, but since then the speed of the games has mean that precision and control has always been sacrificed.

RE the $25 a year price tag - its kind of odd that these days we've become so accustomed to paying no more than 99p for an app because of iPhones and Android that $25 a year seems expensive.

the trouble with all these services is that many of us have terrabytes of locally stored data. That means that beginning a backup process is actually something of a commitment. I have a Bitcasa account I plucked for recently. My best guess is that it'll take well over 6 months to catch up with all the stuff I have to

Now playing

I loved the beautifully tongue in cheek Zant battle from Twilight Princess.

The problem is that other apps arent designed with them in mind, so they interfere with one another. Most sidebars you can move where the trigger point is, but there's always one app or other that they interfere with. I like them, but dont use them because of this. I think they have to be a system feature to work,

Hmm. Not sure I agree there. I think MS striking out in a new direction is what pissed ppl off in the first place. The "me too" stuff you mentioned is actually the status quo, that PS4 is just sticking with. Thats my view anyway.

After a billion dollar warranty payout on Xbox 360, its a fair bet that avoiding overheating was the first thing they thought of when sitting down and designing the new Xbox. Hence the massive case.

Crossover cable? Bloody hell that takes me back.

Good point. It could be the spin on his machine not being long enough, not the dryer.

My problem is not the Kinect. The idea of the NSA storing HD video or your front room is laughable. My problem is that people moan about the Kinect but take absolutely no steps to properly secure their privacy online in other ways, - whether by technological methods or by complaining through political avenues.

Why do anything?

Agreed, that would be a better description.

More evidence that mobile gaming is a genuine threat to traditional gaming. Like it or not, there's a hell of a lot of money in mobile gaming right now - both investment and sales. EA's results last week showed that for them mobile gaming is the equal of any other income stream, by revenue. They also disclosed that

Trouble is the 3ds has a strong games lineup (exceptionally strong if you like RPGs in fact). They combine actual new games with solid ports and rereleases of classics like Oracle of Ages/Seasons via the store to make the investment worthwhile. So the problem was just the hump of first purchase.
