We swapped an M30 “Big Six” in to an E30. The turbo motor is basically that with lower compression. There are motor mount kits available.

I want a Wotometer (Wide Open Throttle)-o-meter in cars. Nothing will give you an indication of how long & hard a car has been driven than that.

Geography?

I swear we ordered one recently, and we just needed to cut a section out to do a small patch. I’ll check with the wife, it’s her project. There are some parts that aren’t available, I know. And then, there are some where they look different than the NOS parts (like the badges look like modern BMW badges vs. the subtly

It is. We have gone this route on our E9 restoration. C’mon Euro, keep dropping!

Just goose it to get the back end out.

100% this. A car guy building cars makes me happy.

This also works when he debates Creationists...

THANK YOU!

I always thought it was the horse-hair seat padding...

A) Strip the whole car

Thank you. It’s my wife’s project. We look forward to assembling our 1:1 Scale E9 model kit! Oh, and on the car we dipped we documented every single step of the process with hundreds of photos. Just in case we do ever decide to sell, we want to prove that the car is solid and has no rust literally waiting in the

For us, we were restricted to what the local environmental laws were in the area of the US we’re in. In fact, we had to trailer the car to a different state than the one we lived in at the time. We found a firm that does the “chemical peel” dip. So, not acid per se, but it did chemically strip the paint, old body

We actually found two different rust free-ish ones for $8,000 each (or so) about 4 years ago. Good ones are still out there, they tend not to be advertised.

You are not wrong. That’s why there are $8,000 E9s out there as well as $60K E9s out there. My wife bought an $8K one known to be clean, and STILL went to the trouble of acid dipping the body and then dipping the car in electrostatic primer, just to be sure all the nooks and crannies were filled... When these are

I can confirm Australia’s is reversed to the US norm. I used the wipers on my rental in Sydney everyday although it never rained...

Same thing happened to us. “Oh, that was the internet price.”

Delivers Go-Karts is more like it.

As you look around the car, elements similar to competitors certainly pop out. The 2CV, the future Mini, even a bit of Isetta here and there. Wow.

Having recently sampled both of these on non-public roads, I agree 100%. Plus, the Lexus gives you no manual option. The dual clutch (if you must/want to) in the BMW is far better than the RC-F’s trans. I did like the Lexus’ seats, however.
