Thank you for sharing this perspective.

My in-laws live on the south side of Chicago, near Midway. The best part are the subtle variations in vinyl tops. The Polish retiree ones are different from the young Italian or Russian mob ones. All of those are also distinctive from the Mexican and/or Puerto Rican ones. The use of sunroofs, fake convertible top

Which part of it? There's so much going wrong here...

Mr Turbo Miata: I get your point. You also see this with the new batch of hybrid sports cars: 0-60 in 2.8 seconds and 73 mpg! I feel it should be "or" instead of "and." Or, at least put the two measures of performance in different sentences. I totally get that both will not happen at the same time. But, it

This article and the ensuing discussion is the reason behind the Monty Python joke:

It may fair to say the 700 got them in a position for the Neue Klasse cars to "seal the deal" both financially and as a brand builder.

3rd Gear (Sorry, it has to be done):

The wife and I have talked about this one...

I'm thinking those aren't faux vents. Since there's no louvers under the rear window or on the decklid, they likely let in cooling air for the fan. There's too much turbulence under the car to draw in air from underneath, it mixes with the warm air expelled from the engine too easily.

Funny that the looks thing came up again. There was a discussion of it in our house two days ago.

So, a last second panic stop is WORSE than having chunks of bridge raining down on traffic when an oversized truck wedges itself in to a too-small place?

Or the Pontiac Solstice, the Chevy Equinox, the Volvo Polestar editions, the Mitsubishi Eclipse, Olds Aurora, Saturn's badge was a stylized version of the planet & rings...

Fun fact: The guy who took this photo is most likely the same guy who was featured here last week for stuffing his Bugatti into a tire wall... At least, that's his site watermarked on the photo. Or, so I'm told...

This guy did get in to a bit of trouble for that, there was a flap over it in AZ. From what I understand, "Rob" is a purveyor of photos of women who may be unencumbered by clothing. His site (allegedly, I wouldn't know ;)) may feature photos of his fine automobiles posing with some ladies.

So, would the original Miata be Synthetic Comprehensive? Lots of cues and proportions from cars like the Lotus Elan, but still a clean sheet design that echoed the essence of earlier cars.

The way I read the comment, is that the metal intake manifold will pull heat out of the incoming charge.  Unless that intake manifold is cooled, it will not.  It will heat the air, which is always bad.  An exception could be made for a non-intercooled turbo application where the intake charge may be significantly

Unless, of course, the metal intake manifold is bolted to a very hot metal cylinder head that's far warmer than ambient air.  In incoming air cools the manifold, picking up heat in the process...  If your metal intake manifold was chilled to below ambient, it'd be a different story.

The E39 M5. And this is why the wife owns one. It is an "all-time great" car for the price of a Civic. Sold.

The one off our E39 looked like that after about 50K miles.

Difference here: Not running/spraying water in to the intake. This person ran water through the crankcase to clean it, in place of the oil.
