At some point the A.I. seems to be the one running things I don’t think they specify when though. One would assume around the time of MGS2 but after Peace Walker introduced A.I.’s in the 70’s it could have been way before that.

That shot of the title reveal from the original trailer reversed so that the “Metal Gear Solid V” part of the title disappears definitely seems symbolic.

He definitely has an interesting relationship with Konami, contractually speaking. We’ve been given a lot of teeny tiny hints of it throughout the years.
