Let me change my original suggestion. I see no major issues with throwing it in a MR2 chassis with a SIMCA body and racing it.
Since I'm biased, and I know a V8 can be made to fit, and it comes in around 2200lbs.

Maybe not one specific car, per se, but if I could get into the M-division underground lair. 700HP V12-powered X5 LeMans, M8,etc. And for the true Jalops, the e46 M3 Touring and the e30 M3-amino parts hauler.
