I’m right there with you Stephen. I have no interest in buying the things (or owning really any physical paraphernalia), and to see content locked away behind them is maddening. I understand they have a bottom line, but to burn their customers who aren’t children or collectors seems insane.

This sets a bad precedent for digital content. If you own something digitally, you should own it in perpetuity, even if it was free (unless it’s tied to a service like PS+, where you’re essentially renting the “free” games). You would never a situation where something physical was given away pro bono, and then the…
