There's not much to do with these articles any more but laugh at them, and this one even drags out the old "they just don't understand" line. We get it, Mr. Scalzi. We're not confused; we just think you're wrong (and I think you're a malicious coward).

This was very persuasive (in that it persuaded me never to read Kotaku Australia).

Yeah, pretty "bizarre" that a game with a plot centered on the American Revolution would use the famous year of that event as an easy marketing tie-in. That's just naked jingoism! Anything affiliated with Gawker will never miss an opportunity to disparage anything related to America.

So does this article.

Why?

I saw a mock-up of a ninja "Assassin" yesterday, and this was exactly my sentiment. People aren't even stopping to consider what's fun about Assassin's Creed's environments. You are not looking for obvious matches. You are looking for things that don't match and then designing Assassins around those mismatches.

That's right.

If you've ever wanted to see what it looks like when someone doesn't let facts get in the way of his narrative, this is it. I doubt you'll want to see it again.

I have Snatcher for the Sega CD, in great condition, including the little foam insert. Really, though, it's an even better game than collector's item. Brilliant. All these people shouting for a ZoE sequel ought to direct their efforts toward a Snatcher game.

Full Disclosure: I used to write for Nightmare Mode under Ms. Hernandez, but some of the stuff she and her colleagues produce over there is vicious nonsense.

This is the kind of meandering, pointless article in which people feel they must take an interest if they are to be mature, but which they actually find excruciatingly boring.

I remember hearing that at the time, and I don't think his argument is very good. Art can appeal to many people or none at all. Popularity is not a proper gauge of art.

"We're firmly convinced video games are an art form."

I'm genuinely curious as to whether you've read anything by Karpyshyn.

You must have never read anything by Drew Karpyshyn.

Damn, that was good.

These people squat for a "living." It wouldn't surprise me, considering the shady implications of Zuccotti Park.

I love puns!

In my experience Kotaku has the best commenters. People here can express thoughts coherently, but their thoughts aren't pretentiously stupid like the ones found on Bogost's website or Brainy Gamer.

Okay, it's at the point where Kotaku's staff goes searching the dark corners of the internet for sexist problems to complain about that I quit.
