I don’t know if modern standard Craftsman tools are any better than Husky. Both have a lifetime warranty though, so on that end it’s a toss up. I’d say the Craftsman professional line is better, but the only recent Craftsman tools I’ve bought are C clip pliers.

The engine could be fine, but age and mileage catches up to any car and generally involves changing lots of gaskets, bushings, seals, etc..
