That was a lot better than I anticipated.

This is like that picture they include with kids toys where you can see all the different models you didn’t know you NEEDED yet.

I love those old Toyota Trucks! My cousin has a blue one that is somehow still running. Many adventures in that thing. I also love how the model was simply named “Truck”

My bad, I should have clarified that I was referring to the 1st gen Xterra. Is mucho slow.

I don’t know, but one time I found a random person blasting a mixtape I made years ago. #crowningmusicalachievment

What are you driving with 65hp?

I’m surprised that they lower the standard at 22 years old. Does that mean it’s all downhill from there?

Meh, EDM isn’t anything new if you’re foreign, or Asian American. What I really don’t get are these revered DJ’s who seem to make a ton of money and fame for essentially assembling a fucking playlist.

The main advantage of taking off the rear sway is so the rear axle can get more articulation. You’re not wrong about it banging into the struts at times too though, but articulation is generally the main reason it’s done. But yeah, totally not needed on a 1st gen Xterra at all. So weird. I haven’t had mine on in over

Painting the grey plastics makes such a HUGE difference in how they look. Kudos.

Honestly, I wouldn’t call them well built. Not that they’re bad, I just don’t think they have the greatest fit and finish. If you’ve ever had to re-index the torsion bars, you’ll notice there’s some weird slop in the suspension, but it’s simple, easy to work on, and reliable. They’re more on the rugged side of things,

To the Moon and beyond Xterra! You were a prime reflection of Nissan when they had balls getting out of bankruptcy, and then they gradually parlayed that success into being confused and boring again. You will be missed.

Nice! Get yourself an aftermarket transmission cooler if they’re autos though.

Don’t know about 2nd gens, but 1st gens are solid.

They’re tailgating you, because they’re too slow to pass you. Seriously. If this happens to you often though, you might just be a slow driver. Just about anything is faster than an Xterra.

Yeah, infamous #6 is a pain, and pretty much has to be done blind while laying across the engine. For a while I though these awful feats of engineering were a thing with cheaper cars, until I started working on a couple German cars. Need special tools just to remove one damn bolt!

I haven’t heard of the timing chain being much of an issue on the 2nd gens, but the radiator/coolant one definitely is, though easily fixed (exactly like others mentioned). Get an aftermarket trans cooler and you should be good to go for a very long time.

The 1st gen Xterra is actually very, very capable off-road. Change the crappy stock tires to a nice set of all-terrains, or muds and she will take you far. Driver skill depending of course.

BINGO! I got my Xterra when they first came out in 2000, and the biggest selling point was cost. I was originally looking at 4 Runners, but the model with the options I wanted rang up about $20,000 MORE than my Xterra, which I got fully loaded for $25k. During that time, the only other SUV competitor in that price
