And I am not discounting people that actually have it, because I know it is real. Just have seen that diagnosis be abused, which really sucks for people that do have it. Same with service animals, my uncle was blind and had a seeing eye dog, so people trying to pass off “support” animals as legitimate “service”

Ahh, see, I did not know that. Great info and appreciate the insight. Like I said, if she had a real service animal, that dealer is and should be screwed.

I could see it for PTSD possibly, but I am not sure what people are able to get real “service” animals for. My uncle was blind and had one because he actually needed one, so I get a bit sensitive when I see others trying to use “support” animals as real “service” animals. His disability was obvious though, so hard to

Got ya, I tried to look up France’s tax laws but couldn’t find much. Here in the US you have your gross income, but not all of that is taxable. There are tons of different deductions you can take to get to your actual “taxable income”. So, in the US, taxable income of $16.5k/year would be a real income around $25-30k

Yea, I guess so. I still think the naming and how it has been marketed/talked about leads to some people thinking it has more capabilities than it does and leads them to rely on it more than they should. But I don’t really know.

Yea, I can imagine. That is why the minute we found out my wife was pregnant we moved to living on only my salary as we knew she would be off work for at least a few years. Then we got our non-elastic expenses in check and figured it out.

Yep, that is what most folks do. If they have monthly income of X and payments of Y they still have x-y to spend monthly and do that. That is OK to some extent, but if you then have a downsizing of X side of the equation, you are in trouble.

Not scams, per se, but overpriced.

Yep, I think they both have their place and in some cases, it makes more sense to do one over the other. The 30 gives you more flexibility with a higher payback over time for that flexibility. We will save a ton on interest over the life of the loan and it only cost us $100 or so a month. So it was a no brainer.

Great info and that makes sense. I get the invasion of privacy side of things, but I am also a fan of using technology to catch people that do shitty things.

I agree that it is severely impaired. Just saying that someone that drinks a lot and frequently will not have the same outward physical impairments as someone who is a social or infrequent drinker.

I will probably get roasted for this, but every time I see “fibromyalgia” I get a bad feeling. I knew some folks that used this to get disability payments since it is very hard to diagnosis (or at least it was). Add to that, I work with two people that are on Military disability with no real known issues and I don’t

Not how tax write offs work, so no, this is not the case.

It is not closed, but the value of it is much less than people think. I don’t think it was covered here, but you would also need to have business profits beyond the value of the car, because without profits, you have nothing to write off against. Then you get less based on usage and tax bracket, so the savings for

Possibly, but more talking about explicit “cash vs credit” prices or “cash price or add 3% for credit” and stuff like that. I mostly “shop small” too. The last place that I remember was a Polish Deli in Pittsburgh, but my work was paying, so it didn’t matter. I got extra bonus points in that case too!

And that is 100% fine with me. As a retailer you are free to do what you want. I run into it once in a while, but it is definitely not the norm from my daily purchase standpoint

Great response and exactly right.

Dave Ramsey, is that you???

Yes, they can. But what gives those people the thought that they can use a defeat device and everything will be OK? Could the name be playing a part in that along with what has been said about it? Because I think it can. And to me, that is a problem.

Yep, that is true too.
