The R1T is the same size as a Tacoma and I wouldn’t be surprised if the prices don’t get pretty close when it comes to the Tacoma EV. I am super curious how Toyota is going to build an EV truck on a shared platform with a ICE vehicle and what that means for things like a frunk.

My experience at AutoX events shows any big powerful car to be a nice target for an old beat half to death tuned CRX SI. When a 500hp super car is 2 seconds off an ancient rusty econobox with sticky rubber and wrong wheel drive, it becomes clear that when it comes to most parking lot courses, weight is king.

Pedantry: The last gasp of a failing argument.

Why are you dying on this hill?

since there are so few situations in which it would be viable to use this vehicle for towing.“

If you fall outside of the use potential that a first Gen electric truck provides, then the Lightening isn’t for you. Wait a Gen or two, it’s early.

I can not grasp this.

The dealerships just want to be in on the take. If you think they care about consumers well being you are being naive. The last thing we need is entrenching the dealership model any further.

Let the market decide.

I have chosen the path of not driving a big vehicle. The problem is everybody assumes they need to keep themselves safe from trucks with their truck. The reality is that almost as many fatal accidents are single car wrecks as multi car wrecks. I will take the odds that a car with superior driving dynamics provides

I have lived in a part of the country with incredibly extreme weather for many years. We get up to 400 inches of snow and the freeze thaw is relentless and our roads are crap for it.

I wasn’t talking about people living in bigger cities. More of people in actual rural areas who have a 400 ft. driveway and the occasional foot of snow. And “no unimproved roads”? C’mon, that’s ridiculous.”

4 low can be good in deep snow, but on ice it’s a great way to hose yourself.  When letting off the gas is very similar to locking the brakes, things can go wrong pretty quickly.

Why didn’t the idiot in the Range Rover look at the cars in the ditch, understand the conditions and assess that his car was equipped with stupid ass no seasons and not attempt the climb?

I’m thinking more about the vast middle of the country, particularly the Midwest, where trucks are exceptionally popular. Those folks like them for a lot of valid reasons that have everything to do with their environment, same as yours where people tend to drive lower AWD vehicles like Subaru or Audi, etc.”

I do work from home, but the kids got to get to school and we don’t have a bus that comes near our house. I live in the rural mountains. Some years we got 400 inches. Many of us get around without trucks because lower cars handle better in icy conditions and we have to go over mountain passes with death drops. The

They handle bad roads and snow better than cars: ground clearance, suspension travel, 4wd, higher aspect ratio tires, etc.”

“How about just letting people buy what they like without

Yep...Let’s all race to the bottom right?
