I know we are not the first group of people to take a hurtful and negative word and make it our own, and through that ownership find solidarity and strength. But I would caution you to remember the origins of that word, the original meaning and intent behind it, and to have some empathy and sensitivity towards those

yeah I don’t know how someone like him, so on-point about how economic equality should look- is so damn obtuse about how economic equality is reached for the variety of demographics that he isn’t catering to. He seems to just not like the idea of ever straying from using his specific phraseology, as if replacing,

My “favorite” is how working-class people are somehow only white. Who’d a thunk it?!

As the child of white, working-class voters, I am so fucking sick of hearing about white, working-class voters.

And they seem to forget, in their blind hate of all things Hillary, that he LOST. Without even arguing whether she was a good candidate or not, he lost to the woman that was so “horrible”. Like, he wasn’t even good enough then to be considered the better choice when the people were given a choice.

Jesus Christ, this. It is becoming such a sad state of polarization, across the board, that if you’re not all the way with any certain ideology, you’re none of the way. “You’re not progressive/LGBT-friendly/not-racist/feminist enough according to my definition of what those terms are, and you misused a term once, so

1) Really? You “feared” Hillary? A person who’s at least shown a willingness to listen to opposing opinions, unions, and effective policy ideas? Hillary would have nominated someone who knows about education policy to handle education. A low bar, but not something that should inspire “fear.” I’m not an educator

Have you forgotten 2018? Those elections are looking pretty important right now. Blocking the excesses and appointments of Trump would be a big bonus. No more dancing around that issue, either. They need to say “Vote for us and we’ll make sure he doesn’t put another Nazi on the Supreme Court.”

Term Limits would be a nice start to amend both sides’ idiocy.

When the Republicans fail at healthcare reform (which they inevitably will,) the Democrats need to jump on that motherfucker. People are paying attention to that issue. They need to lay out 3 items that will make the ACA stronger and more affordable. The state of the economy will dictate where to go policy-wise beyond

I wish I could star this a million times. If you actually read Clinton’s platform it was quite progressive. I don’t get why some people refuse to look at her actual platform.

Yeah, your points are correct. I really dislike how little fact these writers put in their articles. Clinton didn’t move toward any Republican line. She moved slightly more liberal, a result of Bernie Sanders. And while Clinton might not have been as progressive as many wanted, her stance on most issues was more

This. I can’t listen to one more “they were both the same” or “she was no better” blah blah. There is no way 1/16th of the harmful things being done right now would be going on if Clinton were elected and the “purity test” put on hold. Folks who had, say, they environment as their top issue now find themselves even

Well, I agree completely with that. Hillary was always a centrist at best, but having her sign off on that platform was encouraging for me. Reluctant or not, if she was going to push for those things that’s what really matters to me.

I agree with all of this. And then double-down with: the majority of the country isn’t on “our” side — which is why incremental progress is still progress!

I’m pretty sure “edged closer to Republicans” means “nominated someone I still have a throbbing hate-boner for.” Acting like a $13 minimum wage is close to Republican policy platforms is a giggle at best and completely disingenuous at worst.

I look at Clinton’s platform in 2016:
