I think this is good advice unless you are like me and have one browser window open at all times just for news feeds and other articles. I have Google reader open 24/7 and as a web blogger I am always looking for news so I will often have up to 60 or 70 tabs open at a time.
I agree with the speed problem but a while back cnet featured kingsoft office which I downloaded and it is super fast to start and do pretty much anything. It also has an amazing tabbed interface that I learned to love.

He means that he would like to move away from google but it is free and so good that he can not justify it.
I use Gmail, Outlook and my personal domain webmail on a daily basis. They are all connected to thunderbird on my laptop. I also have yahoo as a backup of all my mail, lavabit because it is more secure and another couple gmail accounts because well they are free.

I recently made two that whenever I write a post for my new blog (techclimax.com) it takes the RSS title and url, puts it through bitly then takes the bitly and posts the title of the post and sends it to Twitter. So basically if I write a post it posts the title and a shortened url to Twitter.
Yep I only have File explorer and Chrome. If I want anything else it is about 5 keystrokes away.
Beyond Pod is excellent. It costs 5 bucks but if you are cheap you can download the unlock key for free on some well lets just say questionable websites.
Yes but only for mail. I really like the mail app and find that it is a lot faster to get through my email.
