4 months to work up to 9 miles a week? That's 3 runs a week, of 3 miles each, maybe 45 minutes each run if you're slow. That's a very minimal level of training. If you had ramped up faster, you could have been getting the same 9-miles-a-week training benefit several months earlier. Why cheat yourself?
