Slightly used M240 is the proper answer to this question. Ideally it would be an M2, but if you can’t find one in your budget go M240 with some upgrade.

My experience with bikes is that buying a cheap one is like buying tools from Harbor Freight.  Fine for light and short-term use, but a waste of money otherwise.  Spending a little more upfront is way better than repeatedly fixing/upgrading something crappy.
