At some point, “unique and interesting” just means uniquely ugly. That house was uniquely ugly, now it’s average.
I would argue that they simply didn’t have the same media microscope. If you read about the history of those companies, they were no better.
Ralph Giles and Michele Christensen. Your internet skills are poor, at best.
... and to give you more perspective on how frozen in time the STI has been, in 1999 The Merc E55 only had 349 HP. Subaru lost the plot 10 years ago. It’s gone from a super car slaying bargain to a totally underpowered also-ran.
Nice Price. This is an iconic car.
Somehow I’m guessing they didn’t set out to make a podcast about how great Uber is. Hating on Uber is the popular thing to do right now, but it’d be easy to tell a terrible story about almost every Fortune 500 company. Ford supported Hitler. Nike used child labor. ExxonMobil ... do I even need to? Given all that, Uber…
I would love to see this review re-done with a well-kept, low mileage ITR. This one looks to have some stories. I bought a 1997 ITR new off the lot in Vermont. They were going for premiums in all the major markets, but I snagged mine for MSRP. I love that car. I put a good 27k miles on it before another car smashed…
Here he is guys. The “Whatabout” man is here to remind us that someone else has done something vaguely similar to what just happened, despite the context and actual facts being completely different. That doesn’t matter to “Whatabout” man, as he just wants to feel a littler better, so that somehow makes it all OK.
Blame the internet. For better or worse, nothing is a secret anymore.
No pictures? An article about detailed artwork with no pictures?????
Impressive fab-work but pretty meaningless as an actual motorcycle. A frame made from a welded up chain and a fuel tank on your back is a fair bit of nonsense. We all have different tastes.
Agreed. I want to see the whole bike and then zoom in on the details. The detail shots are B-Roll. Media or not, find a way to take full-bike-in-the frame shots.
Again, unless you have access to the data, you’re just speculating. Losing money doesn’t mean the unit economics don’t work. They could be spending 3.8B on the driverless stuff. Do you have specific data that proves the unit economics don’t work? Just repeating that they subsidize every ride doesn’t make it true.
My mom says I’m special. What special information do you have that proves the model doesn’t work now or ever? Because none of those numbers are in the article. Burn rate tells you nothing. I assume their investors have seen those numbers.
I’ve made my money there. I don’t see much additional upside in the near-term, and I’m skeptical on the move into trucks.
I remember when Jalopnik also HATED Tesla. I bought a bunch of Tesla stock then. The Jalopnik commentariat has a pretty poor record on predicting the future.
Actually, no the article didn’t explain it. They just had some unsubstantiated speculation from some rando prof and provided no data to support such speculation. How did you get to a 200B burn rate?
Ryan’s mind is going to be so blown when Uber finally goes public at some huge valuation. It will be even more blown when they are still around in 20 years. The Uber hate is getting soooooo old, and you don’t understand the economics of a growth company in which velocity is dictated by burn rate and funding rounds,…
I never would have imagined anyone would use Adele and Cirque du Soleil as examples of elitist events. I have so many questions.
